GTG Snacks - Documentation

Complete guide for using the GTG Snacks iPhone app

Getting Started

To record workouts, you must first be subscribed. There is a free trial available for first-time users which can be cancelled before the end of the trial. You can sign up for the free-trial/subscribe in the Settings tab and cancel a subscription through the App Store app's subscription settings.

Use the Workouts tab or Apple Watch app to record new workouts or view your existing ones. The Names tab is used to manage your workout names.

To have workouts also be recorded to Apple Health, first enable the option in Settings.

Watch App

Workouts can be recorded in the Apple Watch app by tapping the workout button. The GTG app can also be setup as an Apple Watch Complication to quickly launch and record a workout.

Note that the Watch app communicates asynchronously (not real-time) with the iOS app, so there will be a delay in seeing the recorded workout in the iOS app. If there are issues with the Watch app, the 'Sync Watch' button in the Settings tab can be used to force a sync with the iOS app, or, you can restart both the Watch app and iOS app to clear any issues. When there is a delay in having the workout be recorded from the watch-app, the workout will still be recorded with the correct time (when it was tapped on the watch).

Fitness/Health Integration

Enable 'Record workouts to Health/Fitness' in Settings to save your completed workouts to Apple Health. You can control the workout-type that will be recorded to Apple Health when setting up the Workout-Name.

When deleting an individual workout, the workout will also be deleted from Apple Health. When deleting a Workout Name, workouts associated with that name will not be deleted from Apple Health.

Note that the GTG app does not read, write, nor ask for access to any other Health data, only the workouts you record through the GTG app. For workouts to be recorded to Apple Fitness, they must have a length of at least one minute.

Notes

When a workout is recorded, the attributes of that workout are recorded as they were at the time of recording. So when changes are made to a workout name, such as the number of reps, it will only reflect on the workouts recorded going forward from that point.

The app will come preloaded with existing workout names but, feel free to edit/delete them and/or create your own.

GTG-Snacks requires a subscription to record workouts, mostly to pay for the backend services that store your workouts and workout-names.

The GTG app does not collect any personal data, nor does it share any of your data with third-parties. Your workout data is stored securely in the cloud and is only accessible by you.
